To My Little Girl

Happy Birthday, Mayita.

The year has flown by. Hard to believe that last year I was being rolled into the operating room. And so what if I almost passed out from the spinal and threw up from the anesthesia.  After what seemed like forever (but in reality two hours) I was holding your tiny little body in my arms. The teeny fingers. The cute baby yawn. The very thoughtful looks you would give me in the hospital room, as if you were contemplating everything going on.

I knew you were sizing me up to see if “we would work well together”. Glad to see you agree with my assessment.

This year has been a wonderful adjustment in our lives. It hasn’t been totally easy, but your infectious laugh and bright eyes definitely make it worthwhile. I have to make sure to cherish this because soon enough you will be chasing your big brother around and I won’t be able to catch either of you.

So, don’t grow up so fast, mmkay?

Even back then, Mayita could give you "Blue Steel"

She looks ecstatic to be 1 year old. Actually I think she was just annoyed with me constantly wiping her snotty nose.

About OneLoCoMommy

I live in Northern Virginia and and I look like the stereotypical suburban mom, for better or for worse. My son plays baseball and takes karate (albeit adaptive). My daughter is a gymnastics diva but rolls with the boys in T-ball. I've been a Room Mom and Playdate Coordinator. I work full-time, try to work out, and love my Book Club. However, I also blog on my experiences on our ASD, SPD and ADHD journey while trying to be a better parent advocate. All in a life's work.
