What I’m Reading – October 23, 2012

Whew, it’s been crazy dealing with two sick kids, work and a Zumbathon for B’s Walk Now for Autism Speaks team. But here are some things that I found interesting on the Interwebz:

1. An Open Letter to Ann Coulter – The tweet that set off a thousand ships…Ann has once again felt that it was fine to use the “R” word in describing someone. I’m sure you already have read about it.

I haven’t had a chance to blog about this, but I know one of my favorite bloggers Love That Max has written a wonderful post about it.

All I can say to Ann is – “Really? THIS is what you feel is an appropriate insult to hurl at a person?” And as I tweeted, it’s not the first time she’s used the word.

2. Autistic kicker makes game-winning field goal – I saw this on the news this morning. I know Husband will enjoy that as he harbors a dream that B will be a NFL punter one day. Believe me, B can boot the ball.

3. Did you get a chance to watch Night of Too Many Stars? I thought it was a hoot. They raised an astounding $3,718,613 for autism related programs. Some of my favorite clips:

Finally, this just popped on my feed from Babble.com – Halloween Gangnam Style House Wins The Neighborhood (Video). Because of course the song needs to be set to outdoor lighting. Note: Apparently this is somewhere near me which I cannot believe I was not aware of. Must locate immediately. 😉

About OneLoCoMommy

I live in Northern Virginia and and I look like the stereotypical suburban mom, for better or for worse. My son plays baseball and takes karate (albeit adaptive). My daughter is a gymnastics diva but rolls with the boys in T-ball. I've been a Room Mom and Playdate Coordinator. I work full-time, try to work out, and love my Book Club. However, I also blog on my experiences on our ASD, SPD and ADHD journey while trying to be a better parent advocate. All in a life's work.
