We spent a relatively quiet Thanksgiving break.
Since B had no school – I ended up taking both the day before and the day after Thanksgiving. We had a playdate on Wednesday while Mayita was still at daycare. It was nice to have B’s friends over and it was relatively injury free. 🙂
On Thanksgiving Day, Husband made the best of some wonderfully warm weather and got most of the outdoor decorations up. Lest you think we are the “classy sort” that hang wreaths from our windows and such – it’s a menagerie of decorations that do not “go together” at all. Each year we add onto our collection – and this year in honor of Mayita it was a Mickey Mouse inflatable.
We spent Thanksgiving with Husband’s family – and B did remarkably well. This year I don’t think there was as many people at the house, so the noise wasn’t so bad for him. Also, this particular aunt’s house has this awesome basement with a treadmill, pool table, and a slot machine game. And plenty of room to run around. For all the kids (not just B and Mayita) – it was a big ole playground.
It was evident towards the end of our time that B was getting overstimulated though – he started not listening to our warnings. He began his “silly routine” – it involves a lot of body movement, some flapping, a few falls, and loud screeching noises. We quickly (well, as quickly as we could) gathered our belongings, rushed some goodbyes to family, and out we went. Thankfully, it meant that B passed out shortly after getting home – not a peep was heard from him for the rest of the night.
And on Black Friday, while most shoppers were out jostlin’ to buy gadgets and gizmos, we stayed at home. Husband had to work, so I had both kids to handle. The weather was still nice, so we were able to get out to a local playground and get some energy out.
Of course, the kids also had the required arts and crafts projects for Thanksgiving.
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
