The First…Stitches!

And no, not the ones you get in your side from laughing.

B had Water Play at school today. During the session he “really” had to go to the bathroom. So the teachers let him in the school, sans shoes, to go to the bathroom.

When he finished, he slipped, fell, and hit his chin on the toilet. There is a cut, a pretty big one. The staff stop the bleeding and work on calming B down. By the time I get a call, B has calmed down and even went back outside to play!

Husband goes at his normal time to pick up B and he decides to take B to the urgent care clinic, just in case. Out of precaution the doctor performed a concussion test, which B passed. Good news. Then, I get a picture from Husband that stitches were needed.

Oh. Crap.

But, B did so well! The doctor not only had to clean the area but had to numb the area. That required four shots! But he maintained his cool…and even fell asleep after the first stitch. Of course, given what happened to him already, sleep is a good option!

After B got stitched up, Husband carried him out. For being a great patient, B got McDonalds. for dinner. Which meant we all got McDonalds for dinner. 😉

Happy Meal time!

Happy Meal time!

B definitely seemed exhausted, but most likely it’s due to the events today.

Already feeling better!

Already feeling better!

We watched Animaniacs and kept it lowkey. We need to keep the area dry for at least one day and go back in five days to have the stitches removed. While he seems much better, there will be multiple check-ins tonight!

Oh boy!! Well he seems like an awesome trooper!! Way to go B!! But yeah, many check ins are the norm. Welcome to the club mom!! Our first…Bug and staples on the back of the head fom banging his head so much when his ABA therapist left for the day.

  2. Holly says:

Wow., what a way to start the week. B was a trooper by the sounds of it. I hope the rest of the week goes better.

  3. Lisa says:

What a trooper! I hope it heals well. And sending best wishes for the week to turn around!! Hope Mayita’s issue clears up!

  4. Sorry about the stitches, but so proud of B. My son is petrified of needles, ever since experiencing extreme pain during immunization shots. (Don’t know what we’re going to do this fall when he has to get boosters). Glad the stitches only have to stay in for 5 days. What a trooper!

  5. One Christmas we went to a party. within 5 minutes of arriving Nate smashed his chin into an old glass/metal table. Much screaming ensued and blood was everywhere. My friend was there and he was a paramedic. We stuck a bandaid on it to keep it closed. it healed with a small scar but he did well with it.
Glad to hear your guy handled it so well!
